Sets out requirements for flash butt welding of steel pipes, tubes and fittings, for boilers, pressure vessels, pressure piping and other pressure or high duty applications carried out on an automatic flash butt welding machine. It covers welding procedure, equipment, requirements for completed welds, procedure qualification testing and production control tests, and includes an Appendix illustrating flash butt welding imperfections.
