It is basically a non-technical guide and deals with what is to be protected, the methods available, the type of detector to use and the method of raising an alarm. Refers specifically to detectors of the switch, pressure mat, metallic foil, wire screen, microwave and ultrasonic motion, UHF radio motion, passive infrared motion, infrared photoelectric beam, sound, vibration and capacitance types. Includes a section rating the relative effectiveness of protection systems themselves, i.e. physical protection without alarm, cooperative, local alarm, automatic dialler, central station, and proprietary system with in-house security force.
